I like music! I cannot count the number of times I have thanked God for this wonderful gift. My favorite thing about music is how it can lift me up and lift me up when I'm at my lowest.

Music has a soothing and calming power. I could relate to waiting on God, wondering why he hadn't gotten back to me all this time and wondering if he would ever help me. What inspires me about this song are the events that led to its writing. Horatio Spafford had just lost his business, fortune and four daughters in a maritime accident. Right there, in the midst of his greatest pain, he said: "I'm doing well.” This kind of trust and belief in the Lord encourages me in my trials to believe and trust in God as well.

I remember listening to Solid Rock right after a failed job interview last year and how it brought me to tears. It's a beautiful acoustic song about broken dreams, storms of life, and how we need them because God uses them to shape us and draw us closer to Him.

It moves me too because it reminds meEven though God puts us through these trials, His love and grace are still with us. We should not fear storms or run away from them, because that brings us closer to Jesus. Listening to it reminds me to not only hold back tears but also to think about the good God has done through my trials and to thank him for letting me through.

When everything is going well in our life, we believe that God is with us. Every time a tragedy occurs, we begin to wonder where God is. I've known this song for a while, but only heard it last year because I was desperately trying to hold on to my faith. Hearing about God's faithfulness in providing for us before we know we need it encouraged me in a way I cannot express. I love the penultimate line that says:"Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow"because that's what God was to me this season.

Oh how sweet to know that the name of Jesus will never change, but changes everything! Life is so full of pain, difficulties and storms,but we have an anchor that holds us together, a savior that comes to our rescue.I enjoy listening to this song as it reflects to my heart's content. I need Jesus; this whole world needs it. Sometimes I can't help but be afraid. I can't escape despair. I need to see his face and I need him in my situation. His presence changes everything.

I like to listen to this song in difficult times, even if God hasn't changed my situation yet. A pastor once agreedIn your trials, praise God for what you think He will do.. I believe that God will change him and I can worship him and thank him now. My favorite part of the song is the second part which is very upbeat. It's my favorite part because it always makes me get up and dance! Praising and dancing to God in the midst of pain, even though my face was still wet with tears, brought untold joy to my heart.
